What to bring?
Thanks to some generous donors, TPM has purchased 40 machzorim (prayer books) for both Rosh Hashana and for Yom Kippur. If you have your own machzorim, please do bring them, because we do not have enough for all our expected attendees.
There will be a light community kiddush on both days of Rosh Hashana immediately before shofar blowing. Please ensure all snacks that you bring are nut free, to keep the environment safe for all community members.
Need a meal?
If you are looking for a meal over Rosh Hashana or if you are able to host community members who are, please email deepsouth@torontopartnershipminyan.com and we will make the connection.
Children’s programming
Integral to our community’s planning for the High Holidays is to think about and plan for how the younger members of our community can be occupied and fulfilled.
In contrast to our previous High Holidays at Leo Baeck, this year we do not have access to the ‘Little Leos’ room (the kids’ room that is filled with toys at the back of the main sanctuary).
Instead, we do have access to two empty rooms. One room will be for the younger kids (birth – SK) and one room will be for the older kids (Grade 1 and up). We have hired 3 adults with childcare experience to assist with supervising the kids rooms. Ultimately parents are responsible for the care of their own children, and each room should have at least two adults in it at all times.
We are planning to organize some toys and games, but please bring some varied, quiet, age-appropriate toys that you (and your kids) would be happy to play with and be happy to share with others.
There will be tefillot services for all ages of children over the high holidays, run by volunteer parents. Please reach out to Rachel Ptashny or write to the email below if you are able to assist.
Volunteering opportunities
We are looking for volunteers to fill important roles to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Please email deepsouth@torontopartnershipminyan.com if you can help out with any of the following:
Schlepping
Children’s programs
Room set up or clean up
Kiddush set up or clean up
Greeting/door management (security)
Security
We have hired off duty policy officers to assist with security for all of the High Holidays.
Decorum
Decorum in the main sanctuary is important to ensuring that the davening can take place with kavod – respect. Please note that kids are not allowed on the stage, except for during shofar blowing or when accompanying a parent to open the ark.
We hope that this combination of care and supervision will help our whole community have a meaningful and uplifting High Holidays.
